Support should be easier to find
Pregnancy, birth and the early months with a baby can come with a lot of questions. And while Hawke’s Bay has many wonderful practitioners, educators, services and groups available, knowing what support exists, or where to start looking for it, isn’t always easy.
The Mama Hub was created to change that.
We’re bringing local support together in one welcoming place, making it easier for Hawke’s Bay families to discover the people, services, classes and resources available to them throughout pregnancy, birth, postpartum and life with a baby.
More than a directory
The Mama Hub is about connection.
It began with a group of local practitioners who saw the value in working alongside one another rather than in isolation. By knowing more about the services available across Hawke’s Bay, we can help families find the right support for their individual needs and help connect them with others when another practitioner or service may be a better fit.
Every practitioner featured on The Mama Hub operates independently, with their own qualifications, experience, services and approach. The Hub provides a place for you to discover those options, learn more about what is available locally and decide what feels right for you.
Our ethos
We believe families deserve access to information, choices and support without judgement.
There is no single right way to experience pregnancy, give birth, feed a baby, recover after birth or navigate those first months. Every family is different, and the support they need will be different too.
The Mama Hub is here to make those options easier to find.
Built in Hawke’s Bay, for Hawke’s Bay families
This is a local initiative, created by people who live and work within our community.
As The Mama Hub grows, so will the range of practitioners, services, resources and connections you’ll find here. Our hope is that it becomes somewhere you can return to whenever you have a question, need some extra support, or simply want to know what’s available in our community.
Because finding support shouldn’t be the hard part.
How The Mama Hub began
The Mama Hub began with a conversation between Janine Penny and Naama Sela, two Hawke’s Bay practitioners working with families through pregnancy, birth and the early months with a baby.
We both knew there were many wonderful people doing valuable work across our region, but those services weren’t always easy for families to find. We also saw an opportunity for local practitioners to be better connected with one another, to share knowledge, build relationships and know who else was available when a family needed support outside our own area of expertise.
From that conversation, The Mama Hub began to take shape.
What started with an idea has grown into a collaborative network of local practitioners who each bring their own experience, skills and services to the community.
While Janine and Naama helped get The Mama Hub started, it isn’t about any one person or business. It’s about bringing local support together and making it easier for Hawke’s Bay families to find the people and services that are right for them.
We’re excited to see The Mama Hub continue to grow alongside the community it was created for.
